Teeyo Terms & Conditions
Guidelines and rules for using the Teeyo platform for parents and children.

Welcome to Teeyo. These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the Teeyo website, mobile application, and services (collectively, the "Platform" or "Service"). References to "Teeyo", "we", "us", and "our" refer to Teeyo Pty Ltd.
By creating an account or using Teeyo in any way, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must not use Teeyo.

2. Age and Eligibility
2.1 Minimum Age
Teeyo is designed for children aged 8 and above. By creating an account, you represent and warrant that:
- You are the parent or legal guardian of any child using this account
- You have authority to accept these Terms on behalf of your child
- You have read and understood both these Terms and our Privacy Policy
2.2 Parental Responsibility
As the parent or legal guardian, you are solely responsible for:
- Supervising your child's use of Teeyo
- Ensuring your child understands how to use the Platform safely and responsibly
- Monitoring your child's submissions and activity
- Ensuring submissions comply with these Terms and applicable law
- Reviewing AI-generated feedback and prompts before your child acts on them
- Teaching your child about appropriate online behavior
Teeyo is designed with parental oversight in mind. Parents are expected to actively engage with the Platform and their child's learning.
3. Account Creation and Management
3.1 Account Registration
To create a Teeyo account, you must:
- Provide a valid parent/guardian email address
- Create a secure password
- Accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy
- Confirm that you are the parent or legal guardian
3.2 Student Access
Your child may access the account using a username and password. You are responsible for:
- Managing these credentials securely
- Restricting access to authorized users only
- Changing the password if you suspect unauthorized use
3.3 Account Security
You must:
- Keep login details confidential and not share them with others
- Notify us immediately at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorized access or account misuse
- Ensure your child does not share account credentials with other children or third parties
- Maintain a secure password that is changed regularly
Teeyo is not responsible for loss or unauthorized access resulting from:
- Compromised or weak credentials
- Sharing account details with others
- Failure to secure your device
- Unauthorized use by third parties
You are responsible for all activity under your account, whether authorized or not.
4. Subscriptions, Payments, and Billing
4.1 Payment Processing
Payments for Teeyo subscriptions are processed securely by Stripe, a PCI-DSS compliant payment processor. By purchasing a subscription, you agree to:
- Stripe's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy
- Pay the applicable subscription fees shown at the time of purchase
- Provide accurate and up-to-date billing information
Teeyo does not store your full credit card details. For payment security details, see our Privacy Policy (Section 2.3).
4.2 Pricing and Fees
Subscription prices are displayed before you complete your purchase. Prices may change with 30 days' notice. Changes do not apply to subscriptions already in progress.
4.3 Automatic Renewal
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless canceled. You will receive a reminder email before each renewal. Automatic renewal continues until you cancel (see Section 4.4).
4.4 Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time by:
- Logging into your account and selecting the cancellation option, or
- Contacting us at [email protected]
Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You will retain access to the Platform until the end of that period, after which your account will revert to a free (limited) tier if available, or access will end.
4.5 Refunds
Refunds are provided in the following circumstances only:
Legally required refunds:
- Where refunds are required under the Australian Consumer Law
- If you are entitled to a refund due to a change of mind within the statutory cooling-off period (if applicable)
Service failure refunds:
- If Teeyo fails to provide the service you purchased due to a fault on our part, we may provide a refund at our discretion
No refunds provided for:
- Voluntary cancellation after the service has been provided
- Partial months of service (refunds apply only to full months)
- Changes in circumstance or personal preference
- Discontinuation of specific features (unless required by law)
To request a refund, contact [email protected] with details of your request. We will respond within 10 business days.
All refund disputes are subject to the Australian Consumer Law, which cannot be excluded or limited by these Terms.
5. License and Permitted Use
5.1 Limited License
Teeyo grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to:
- Access and use the Platform for personal, educational purposes
- Generate writing prompts
- Submit writing and receive AI-powered feedback
- View your child's writing progress and learning analytics
- Store submissions for learning purposes
This license is strictly personal and non-commercial.
5.2 Prohibited Uses
You and your child must not:
- Use Teeyo for any illegal, harmful, or unlawful purpose
- Upload content that is offensive, defamatory, discriminatory, or abusive
- Attempt to hack, bypass, disable, or interfere with the Platform's security or functionality
- Copy, reproduce, modify, adapt, translate, or reverse-engineer Teeyo's code, design, or content
- Use Teeyo to develop, train, or improve competing services or products
- Use Teeyo to scrape, extract, or bulk-download data
- Misuse AI-generated feedback for academic dishonesty or plagiarism
- Impersonate others or misrepresent your identity
- Attempt to access other users' accounts or data
- Overload the Platform or interfere with its operation
- Violate any law or regulation applicable in Australia
5.3 Enforcement
Teeyo may, at its sole discretion:
- Suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms
- Remove or restrict access to content that violates these Terms
- Report suspected illegal activity to relevant authorities
- Pursue legal action to enforce these Terms
6. Intellectual Property and Content Ownership
6.1 Your Content – Writing Submissions
You and your child retain full ownership of all writing submissions created on Teeyo. Teeyo does not claim ownership of your child's creative work.
By submitting writing to Teeyo, you grant Teeyo a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to:
- Store and back up submissions
- Process them through AI providers for feedback and prompt generation
- Use submissions to provide personalized learning progression
- Analyze submissions (in anonymized form) to improve the Platform's features
- Retain submissions indefinitely (unless you request deletion under our Privacy Policy)
You retain the right to:
- Access your submissions at any time
- Download and export your submissions
- Request deletion of submissions (see Privacy Policy, Section 9)
- Use submissions for your own purposes outside Teeyo
6.2 Teeyo Content
All content created by Teeyo, including but not limited to writing prompts, AI-generated feedback, the Platform interface and design, branding, code, algorithms, and documentation, is owned exclusively by Teeyo Pty Ltd and is protected by copyright and intellectual property law.
You may not:
- Copy, reproduce, or modify Teeyo content
- Distribute, sell, or license Teeyo content
- Create derivative works based on Teeyo content
- Use Teeyo content for commercial purposes
- Reverse-engineer or extract Teeyo's algorithms or methodologies
You may:
- View and use Teeyo content as intended for your personal educational use
- Share quotes or excerpts from prompts or feedback with others for non-commercial educational purposes (with appropriate attribution to Teeyo)
7. Artificial Intelligence and AI-Generated Content
7.1 How AI Works on Teeyo
Teeyo uses third-party AI services (currently OpenAI and Anthropic) to:
- Generate personalized writing prompts
- Analyze writing submissions
- Provide feedback and suggestions for improvement
- Adapt difficulty levels based on learning progression
When you submit writing, it is processed by these third-party providers. For detailed information about AI usage, data sharing, and your choices, see our Privacy Policy (Section 4).
7.2 AI Training and Your Choice
By default, Teeyo permits AI service providers to use writing submissions for model improvement and training. This helps improve AI services for all users.
You may opt out of AI training by contacting [email protected]. We will implement your preference where possible, though some providers may have limitations. See Privacy Policy Section 4.2 for full details.
7.3 Limitations of AI
AI-generated content is not guaranteed to be accurate, complete, or free from errors, nor is it assured to be appropriate for all contexts or learning styles.
Parents, guardians, and educators must:
- Review all AI-generated prompts and feedback before sharing with the child
- Use professional judgment to assess appropriateness and accuracy
- Correct, supplement, or disregard AI suggestions as needed
- Not rely solely on AI feedback for educational decisions
- Teach children to critically evaluate AI-generated content
7.4 Limitations of Liability for AI
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Teeyo is not responsible for inaccuracies, bias, offensive content, misinterpretation, educational outcomes, or actions taken based on AI suggestions, nor for third-party AI providers' actions or policies.
8. Your Submissions and Content Standards
8.1 Content Standards
By submitting content to Teeyo, you represent and warrant that:
- The content does not violate any law or regulation
- The content does not infringe on any third party's intellectual property rights
- The content is truthful and not deliberately misleading
- You own or have permission to submit the content
- The content does not contain personal information about third parties (such as names, addresses, or contact details) without their consent
8.2 Content Removal
Teeyo may remove or restrict access to submissions that violate these Terms, contain illegal or inappropriate content, infringe third-party rights, or breach confidentiality or privacy. We will notify you of any removal where reasonably practicable.
9. Third-Party Services and Data Processing
9.1 Third-Party Providers
Teeyo relies on third-party service providers to operate and improve the Platform, including Vercel (hosting), Cloudflare (security and CDN), MongoDB Atlas (database), Stripe (payments), OpenAI and Anthropic (AI text processing). 9.2 Data Processing Overseas
You acknowledge that personal information may be stored or processed in jurisdictions outside Australia, including the United States and European Union. By using Teeyo, you consent to this transfer in accordance with Australian Privacy Principle 1.2.
9.3 Third-Party Links and Services
Teeyo may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, practices, privacy policies, or terms of those services. Your use of third-party services is governed by their terms and policies.
10. Privacy and Data Protection
Your use of Teeyo is governed by our Privacy Policy, available at /privacy. By using Teeyo, you acknowledge that you have read the Privacy Policy and consent to the collection, use, and handling of personal information as described there, including collection of writing submissions, processing through third-party AI providers, overseas data storage, AI model training (unless you opt out), and retention of data. 11. Availability and Service Changes
11.1 "As Is" Service
Teeyo is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access, that all features will always be available, that data will never be lost or corrupted, or that the Platform will meet your specific requirements.
11.2 Maintenance and Updates
We may perform maintenance or updates at any time with or without notice, modify, discontinue, or restrict access to features or services, and temporarily take the Platform offline. We aim to provide advance notice where practicable but do not guarantee it.
11.3 Service Interruptions
We are not responsible for loss or damage resulting from maintenance, technical failures, internet outages, data loss, service interruptions, or third-party provider failures.
12. Account Termination
12.1 Termination by Teeyo
Teeyo may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or our Privacy Policy, engage in illegal or harmful activity, breach payment obligations, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Platform or features you use. We will provide notice where reasonably practicable, except where immediate termination is necessary for safety or legal reasons.
12.2 Termination by You
You may terminate your account at any time by contacting [email protected] or using the account settings in the Platform.
12.3 Effects of Termination
Upon termination, your access to the Platform ends immediately; your account and data become inaccessible; your subscription cancels (no refund for remaining balance except where required by law); and you may request deletion of your data (see Privacy Policy, Section 9).
13. Limitation of Liability
13.1 Exclusion of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Teeyo is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages; loss of revenue, profits, data, or business opportunity; cost of substitute services; educational outcomes; decisions made based on AI feedback; or third-party provider failures or data breaches.
13.2 Cap on Liability
Our total liability for all claims arising out of or related to these Terms or your use of Teeyo is limited to the amount you paid for your subscription in the 12 months immediately preceding the claim. If you have not paid any fees, our liability is limited to the cost of re-providing the service.
13.3 Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any right, remedy, or guarantee you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot be excluded or limited. If any provision is unenforceable, it will be modified to the minimum extent necessary or severed, with remaining provisions continuing in full force.
14. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Teeyo, its officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of Teeyo in violation of these Terms, your breach of law, violation of third-party rights, content you submit, your child's misuse of the Platform, or your negligence or willful misconduct.
15. Dispute Resolution and Governing Law
15.1 Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and the Commonwealth of Australia. You irrevocably submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales.
15.2 Dispute Resolution
If you have a dispute with Teeyo:
- Contact us: Email [email protected] with details of your dispute
- Good faith negotiation: We will attempt to resolve the matter within 14 days
- Escalation: If unresolved, you may escalate to management
- Legal action: As a last resort, either party may pursue legal proceedings
We encourage good faith negotiation before legal action.
16. Changes to These Terms
16.1 Updates
We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or technology.
16.2 Notice
For material changes, we will notify you by email at your registered parent/guardian email address at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of Teeyo after this period constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. For minor clarifications or administrative changes, we may update the Terms with or without notice.
16.3 Review
We encourage you to review these Terms regularly. The "Last updated" date at the top indicates when these Terms were last revised.
17. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of law, that provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable, or if modification is not possible, it will be severed. The remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
18. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Teeyo regarding your use of the Platform. They supersede all prior agreements, negotiations, and understandings. There are no oral agreements or understandings between us.
