About

Hi, I'm the parent behind Teeyo

A letter from a parent who built Teeyo to make writing practice clearer and safer for families.

From one parent to another

I wanted to share why I built this platform, not as a developer, but as a dad trying to help his child with writing.

When my child started preparing for the NSW Selective School Test, I noticed how challenging writing could be. Planning ideas, structuring a response, and understanding what good writing looks like were not easy tasks. I also realised how hard it can be for parents to guide their children without doing the work for them. Between work, time pressures, and not always knowing the right way to explain things, supporting writing practice often felt difficult.

I began wondering whether there was a way for kids to get simple, steady guidance while still doing the thinking themselves. That idea is what eventually became Teeyo.

Teeyo provides a writing prompt, a place to write, and a tutor-style panel that offers suggestions when a child asks for help. It is designed to point them in the right direction with structure, clarity, and small improvements they can understand. Teeyo's guidance focuses on clarity, structure, detail, and reasoning, the core elements looked for in selective writing assessments. It does not replace their work or write for them. It simply supports their practice.

Because my own child uses Teeyo, I built it to be safe and straightforward. We do not collect children's names, images, or voice recordings. We do not use tracking cookies or behavioural analytics. Parents stay in control of the account and can view or delete their child's work at any time.

At home, Teeyo has made writing practice more manageable for us. It gives my child a clear place to start and some guidance when they feel stuck. That is the same experience I hope it can offer your family.

Teeyo is not a large company. It is a tool I built to help my own child, and I am sharing it because I know other families face similar challenges. If you ever have questions or suggestions, you can reach me at [email protected].

Thank you for taking the time to learn about Teeyo and for considering it as part of your child's writing practice.
